Brooklyn Pride begins its full-day of Pride events at 10:00am on Saturday, June 10, 2017 with their Annual 5K Run. The timed race course follows a route through the scenic and historic Prospect Park. Enter the park by Bartel Pritchard Circle at 15th Street and Prospect Park West (F Train to 15th Street), and join the many who come to seriously run the course for the time, or those who dress in the most festive and colorful PRIDE ensembles to jog and have fun. Everyone who registers gets a sports-tek shirt and all who finish get a finisher’s medal. Prizes are awarded to the different age groups, and to the overall finishers in each of three gender categories. We are very excited to be able to offer a trans/GNC category this year for participants who have felt limited by our male and female options in the past.
The event is co-hosted by the LGBT running club, Front Runners New York and a portion of the proceeds is given to an organization doing great work in the LGBTQIA+ community. Cheer New York will be the recipient of our Community Grant this year. Their energy throughout the entire month of June (& beyond) and commitment to helping others certainly keeps us going!
Pre-Race Packet Pickup for race bibs, shirts, and goodie bags will be held again at ‘Out Of The Closet’, 475 Atlantic Avenue near 3rd Ave. on Thursday, June 8th and Friday, June 9th, from 4pm – 8pm. They will also be hosting an Open House on Friday evening with refreshments, food, and music. Bibs and shirts will be issued on race day from 8:30am – 9:30am, but we recommend picking up in advance to avoid race day lines. You can pick up for friends with a note or e-mail permission from the registrant.
Registration is $35.00 through May 1 and $40.00 after. While there is a $50 race day registration, the race has sold-out well in advance for the last three years. Register now to be guaranteed entry.
